Professional Artist Drop
August 7th
2026
For one special day, dozens of professional artists from Taos are turning small stones into one-of-a-kind works of art. These beautifully painted rocks will be hidden throughout the Taos Historic District for people to find and keep as a gift. Each one is a small celebration of Taos creativity — painted by a local artist, offered freely, and waiting to brighten someone’s day.
Easter 2026
A few days before Easter, the Town of Taos hosted an easter egg hunt in Red Willow Park. The egg hunt itself took place inside the bounds of the softball field, and children were admitted at different times according to their ages. This meant that at any time, there were many children waiting outside of the field for their turn to hunt eggs, without much to do. We took this opportunity to hold a rock drop to add to the fun. In 2027, we hope to gain permission to set up a rock painting booth for the children who are waiting their turn to hunt eggs.
Valentines Day 2026
Taos Rocks’ first official rock drop took place in the historic district of Taos New Mexico February of 2026 in celebration of Valentines Day.
