Dedication

#TaosRocks is dedicated to the memory of Roger Lane Absten

The Taos Rocks art initiative is dedicated to the memory of my uncle, Roger Lane Absten.

Roger was not a man of great means, but he gave generously in the ways that matter most; he cared for his family, helped his community whenever he could, offered support where it was needed, and believed in supporting artists and the work they bring into the world by purchasing art and providing temporary housing for young artists.

Roger also loved numbers — especially the number seven.
Throughout the year, Taos Rocks will honor Roger with special “Lucky 7” rocks placed in the Taos Historic District. These rocks are a small tribute to his generous spirit, his love of community, and a reminder that you don’t have to have a lot to do lot. One person can make the world a little more beautiful, one tiny action at a time.
